populations was 3 percentage points in 2019.

During 2015/16 over a million people entered Germany as
refugees and asylum seekers mostly from Syria. Since that
time, there has been cap on irregular migration of up to 220,000
per year. Due to Covid-19, fewer than a third of this number
entered Germany in 2020.

for the EU and low risk countries. Arrivals from
Ireland, South Africa, the UK, Portugal and Brazil

January 2021 although this was lower than the 6 million in April 2020.
