FESTIVAL Issue 52 / 2013 www.guestlist.net 15 7 Global gathering 26th-27th July A two day weekend with some of the biggest dance acts on the line-up. If you thought Global Gathering 2012 was amazing, then be prepared for something even better this year! Taking place July 26th-27th, there's a reason Global Gathering was named Best Dance Event at the UK Festival Awards 2012 – it always has incredible dance line-ups. Global Gathering is the UK's most cutting edge and forward thinking electronic music festival. In 2012 the likes of Tinie Tempah, Skrillex, Afrojack and Annie Mac got the place jumping - and this year the lineup is populated with yet more dance megastars! More than any other electronic music festival Global Gathering combines awe-inspiring music with a super honed and slick production operation, bringing experience and innovations from the international festival circuit to the UK, for a truly unique festival experience every year. More festivals: Guestlist.net Line Up: Plan B, Disclosure, Rudimental, Major Look, Example, Katy B, Annie Mac and Netsky. w w w.globalgathering. com Review parklife @ Heaton Park 8th-9th June We headed up to Manchester along with the 40000 people who gathered over the weekend for the fourth installment of this epic festival. The second day of Parklife saw the main stage headlined by Example alongside Roc Nation signee Rita Ora, Rudimental, Wretch 32, Iggy Azalea and hip-hop legends Jurassic 5! The performances on the main stage were an improvement on the first day with great presence, light shows, dancers and live bands causing many a crowd surf! Drum and Bass heavyweight Andy C took the crowd to unprecedented levels of hype and there was plentyofdubstepforallprovidedbyBenga,JokerandBreakage. The hip-hop continued with a fantastic performance from Action Bronson who brought out Danny Brown on stage after having mingled in the crowd with the microphone in a manner reminiscent of the pied piper. Danny Brown's set was typically aggressive as well as the Hudson Mohawke and Lunice's closing set as TNGHT which could only be accurately described as bassline anarchy. With Rodigan himself alongside Zinc, Toddla T and Shy FX most musical tastes were catered for by the Parklife organisers. Roll on Warehouse Project and the fifth year of Parklife Festival!
