20 FESTIVAL 16 www.guestlist.net Issue 52 / 2013 Exit Festival @ Vovi Sad, serbia 10th - 14th july The Experience of a Lifetime at Exit Festival For those who crave something different, Serbia offers a festival experience unlike any other with its fascinating past and unique location. Exit began in 2000 as a student protest against the oppressive Serbian government with the slogan "Exit out of ten years of madness". It has since gained enormous success and grown greatly in stature. It's held annually in the Petrovaradin Fortress located in Novi Sad, Serbia's second largest city and the cultural capital of the country. The fortress offers a stunning view of the city as well as fantastic acoustics that other festivals can only dream of. This year the festival takes place from 10th-14th July and is bound to be another great experience. The acts this year vary from electronic music pioneer SBTRKT to American rapper Snoop Dogg (aka Snoop Lion). The Fusion stage at Exit is a prime example of the diversity of acts the festival has to offer. The stage hosts the angelic Delilah, metal band Prong as well as Serbian blues player Ana Popovic. The modest asking price of £115 gets you a five day festival ticket, 8 days accommodation, airport transfer and a city pass. What a bargain! Exit offers something for everyone and is a must-do for music lovers everywhere. Helsinki's Flow Festival is one for those European festival goers who are not all too keen on the scorching temperatures of Spain's Benicassim and the like. With temperatures ranging from the teens to mid-twenties, Flow Festival, which takes place in Helsinki, Finland is by no means the warmest of festivals. However, if the lack of heat is no issue for you then this should definitely grab your attention. This year's bill is topped by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, who have recently found themselves embroiled in controversy after the Australian singer invited local children's choirs to perform with him on tour. They are joined by the ever elusive My Bloody Valentine and Kraftwerk, who will be performing a 3D show. The rest of the line-up consists of a hugely eclectic mix of artists. For those more inclined to hip hop, performances will come from Kendrick Lamar, Azealia Banks and New York's punkrock rapper Mykki Blanco. Black Emperor, who reformed last year after a ten year hiatus. The festival will also feature a selection of electronic acts such as Hudson Mohawke, Disclosure and a DJ set from Maya Jane Coles. The festival takes place from the 9th-11th August, with an opening concert from The Knife on the 7th. See you there! flowfestival.com
