Accelerating migration
SAP landscapes are among the most critical and deeply integrated workloads in an enterprise's IT environment. Migrating
your SAP landscape to the cloud enables you to modernize and integrate with AWS services to enable the greater agility
needed for competitive advantage. You also have the flexibility to re-size your environment as needed. Other benefits
include retiring technical debt, reducing TCO, and improving cost efficiency. These inspiring stories highlight two
different types of successful migrations—from on-premises to AWS and from other cloud vendors to AWS.

Capgemini, and AWS story.
Centrica's on-premises SAP infrastructure, which
included more than 100 servers, were nearing end
of life. Centrica, which supplies energy services and
solutions to over 26.2 million customers in the UK,
Ireland, and the US, runs its financial systems on SAP
S/4HANA. Its global operations team uses these systems
to determine the company's financial position and
deliver crucial monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
It was time for a migration. Because Centrica couldn't
risk having any issues affect the performance of the
software supporting its global enterprise, it chose to
migrate from on-premises to AWS.

Working with AWS SAP Competency Partner
Capgemini, Centrica migrated 15 SAP finance
systems with approximately 35 terabytes of data to
AWS in just 10 weeks without disruption—despite
its team working remotely. After the migration, costs
were reduced 20–30% compared with its on-premises
solution. Centrica also reports that its SAP S/4HANA
systems are now more agile than before. Thanks to the
flexibility of AWS services like Amazon EC2, infrastructure
and environments can be quickly scaled up and down
as needed. This scalability supports requirements such
as financial year-end reporting. The performance boost
from AWS has enabled Centrica to capitalize on real-time
insights available in SAP S/4HANA.
