In the July issue of the Denver Catholic, Deacon Jason Sewald was listed as serving at the incorrect parish. Deacon Sewald is assigned to Our Lady of the Plains Parish in Byers. We apologize for the error. Also in the July issue, in the article "Like Father, Like Son," the wrong paragraph for the third point was printed. It should read as follows: Not only do the words of Jesus testify to God the Father, but so, too, do his works. The healings, miracles, and all other acts by Jesus show forth his splendor as the Son of God. As our Lord himself says, "If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father." Bishop Jorge H. Rodriguez per- formed a unique grounds-blessing ceremony to prepare for the construc- tion of 48 new assisted living facili- ties. Expected to open in March 2022, the Gardens at St. Elizbeth is already accepting reservations for those who may be interested in calling the Gar- dens home. "These new residences have been specifically designed to meet and exceed what seniors expect in housing today," says Jane Woloson, Executive Director, The Gardens at St. Elizabeth. "Our entire team is very excited and proud that we'll be able to care for more seniors in a beautiful, safe and comfortable setting, plus offer modern conveniences not found elsewhere. When they move into one of our Gardens at St. Elizabeth resi- dences, we want them to feel assured they've found their new home ." Bishop blesses grounds for new Gardens at St. Elizabeth residences LOCAL N E WS On Aug. 10, the permanent deacons of the Archdiocese of Denver were honored with the annual Deacon Day, which took place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Northglenn. The deacons celebrated Mass together with Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila, which was followed by food and fellowship in the parish hall. Let's continue to pray for our deacons, and be sure to say "thank you" to your deacon next time you see him! Catholics gathered across the street from Denver's Planned Parenthood abortion facility, the largest in Colorado, Aug. 14 for the launch of a new pro- life initiative: 40 Days for Life 365. In doing so, Denver joined a growing list of cities in the U.S. hosting a year- round prayer vigil rather than a fall and spring campaign of 40 Days. The goal of 40 Days for Life 365 is peacefully to witness to the dignity of life and pray outside a designated abortion facility every day it is open. The number 365 signifies a new movement to make 40 Days prayer vigils year-round, rather than fall and spring campaigns of 40 days. "The fight of our lives is the fight for the millions of unborn children that deserve their lives," said Catherine Worachek, a student at Our Lady of Victory High School, who attended the event with her mother and several classmates. "Our heroes aren't gearing up for a single fight that will culminate in a decisive victory or defeat. Instead, we are pushing for a consistent, daily effort."
