MAXTRACK'S GPS AND VEHICLE TRACKING FOR CAR INSURANCE IN BRAZIL
●
The answer was to scale Maxtrack's LoRaWAN® solution (devices + device
management + data analytics platform) as a solution to mitigate the 2G
network shutdown.
●
Maxtrack utilized GSM/LoRa enabled vehicles to act as repeaters to provide
connectivity outside network coverage footprint.
●
Ramp GOS2 offered very cheap tracking and roadside assistance cover to
those with no insurance or protection at all.
●
Retail smart hubs were created to work as "last mile" LoRaWAN® gateways to
guarantee coverage.
●
In Brazil there are 65.8m cars and motorcycles, 5m small trucks and 2m trucks.
70% of these are concentrated in 5 states mainly within the state capitals.
●
Every year 650K vehicles (1% of fleet) are stolen. Car insurance is not
mandatory in Brazil and 76% of the fleet have no insurance, protection or
roadside assistance.
