• All actions performed within the project are recorded for reporting and reuse • Technical support is offered by Hexagon • NEOLANT has broad experience in the use of Hexagon solutions NEOLANT brought in its own technologies, InterBridge and InterView, which helped to implement the project. InterBridge allows users to link several CAD formats into one information model. InterView is a visual interface designed to help the team effectively use the decommissioning database. It is fast, easy, and resource saving. Both tools have an interface with Hexagon solutions. The decommissioning database at Smolenskaya, Bilibino, and Kolskaya NPPs were created using Smart Electrical, SmartPlant Foundation, Smart P&ID, and Smart 3D. Smart P&ID was used for two-dimensional technology schemes development, which later were used for putting together 3D models in Smart 3D. Electrical schemes were created with Smart Electrical. A SmartPlant Foundation interface with InterBridge and InterView was applied to create an integrated engineering data storage – a "single access point", which also had a beneficial impact in project document management. Overcoming Challenges Recovering thousands of drawings and as-built documentation from the plants posed a challenge to engineers and other specialists from NEOLANT and Hexagon. The lack of an application among Hexagon solutions for creating a general plot plan (a diagram which shows the buildings, utility runs, engineering, equipment layout, and other constructions of a project site) was challenging, because other 2D and 3D CAD tools had to be brought in and an interface with SmartPlant Foundation was created. The isolated location of some objects and some NPP's staff members' preoccupation with other duties also posed some challenges that were overcome with a holistic change in management and a multidiscipline collaboration approach. Realizing Results It took six months to create and launch the Hexagon decommissioning database system. Each NPP's database is customized in terms of data model extension. For instance, at Kolskaya NPP, 20,931 project-related sketches were scanned and uploaded to the system. The decommissioning database was built upon a single information model which includes 14,532 objects. Today, the decommissioning databases at the three NPPs work effectively and play a key role in: • Gathering and keeping data linked to all information systems at NPPs • Exchanging data among all information systems at NPPs • Providing all necessary data for mandatory decommissioning reports, including reports on the units' technical condition • Providing radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel data integration • Visualizing the structure and patterns of all NPP objects (as well as nuclear unit parts) Moving Forward The decommissioning database projects built with Hexagon tools, information modelling and cPLM methodology worked well with the Neolant InterBridge technology preparatory work. In the near future the decommissioning database will also be integrated with current NPP's operations, technical equipment characteristics and welded connection control information systems.
