CHALLENGE
Help Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) design a new lower-tier air and
missile defense sensor that implements innovative capabilities for the
modern battlefield, adapts to future needs and supports Raytheon's
proven radar processing software architecture.
SOLUTION
Teaming with RMD to define a solution that would meet performance,
software portability, reliability, modernization and cost targets, Mercury
invested top-tier engineering resources and provided a detailed trade-off
analysis of cost, performance, reliability and risk. Raytheon and Mercury
engineering experts tapped into Mercury 's proven system design and
integration expertise to identify the best approach to combining software
and hardware in a software-agnostic, scalable, high-performance system.
RESULT
By collaborating early in the design process, Mercury 's expertise and
engineering resources helped RMD build an optimal sensor. LTAMDS
successfully met all sustainability, scalability and reliability requirements
for the U.S. Army, and RMD was selected to continue technology
development of LTAMDS, the Army 's next-generation radar.
