48 / NOVEMBER.DECEMBER.2021 USICERINKS.COM u.s. ice rink NEWS Updates from the United States Ice Rink Association 2021 Regional Training Program Season Recap October concluded our Regional Training Pro- gram season with the final course being offered in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena, temporary home of the Hender- son Silver Knights and host of the ISU's 2021 Skate America. August marked a return to in-person classes after a 21-month hiatus! The United States Ice Rink Association hosted a total of nine CIT/CRA classes at eight different locations around the country. Additionally, we offered three online CRA courses and eight online SIRO courses in 2021. We congratulate the 48 members that earned a U.S. Ice Rinks professional designation over the course of 2021 and would like to also thank the facility members that hosted training programs. We're incredibly appreciative of our instructors that took part in in-person classes, including Ty Newberry, Brandon Klement, Cory Portner, Pat Newkirk, and Paul Golmoski. It was a training season that had some challenges we had not encountered before. A Look Ahead to 2022 Regional Training Program Locations By mid-December, all facility members' primary point of contact will be emailed a bid-to-host link that will detail requirements for each of our six core courses along with desired dates for each. After a vetting process based off a variety of factors, selected locations will then be contacted and a final calendar will be made available to our members no later than April 1. 2021 Annual Membership and Board of Directors Meetings Held in November On Nov. 1, the annual membership meeting was held by Zoom. Chief Operating Officer Jeff Theiler presented an operations re- port, and was available to answer questions from members present at the online meeting. A copy of the meeting minutes and the cur- rent organization bylaws are available for view in the "Members Only Resources" section of usicerinks.com. The annual Board of Directors meeting was held immediately after the membership meeting Nov. 1-2, in Chicago. The Board discussed current business and set goals and objectives for 2021. During the meeting, the following topics were discussed: • NARCE Present & Future • Membership Benefits & Resources • Education & Recertification • Marketing & Social Media • Governance Policies & Procedures This meeting also provided our newly elected board members their first op- portunity to interact with current board members and contribute to the process of providing direction and leadership for the organization. TC Lewis (Houston, TX) presided over the meeting in one of his first roles as U.S. Ice Rink Association President. J , Despite challenges, the 2021 Regional Training Program season was a huge success.
