32 END OF YEAR REPORT 2018 Approved for distribution outside of the LoRa Alliance™ LOOKING AHEAD It is clear that the IoT's momentum is enormous and we are positioning ourselves to be able to capitalise on this with products and services across our wide and varied value chain. We're supporting the drive to massive IoT deployments by continuing to develop the LoRaWAN networking protocol while at the same time making implementation easier and more cost effective. Our ecosystem of mature products is focused on expanding applications and solutions to reduce the burden on end users and remove some of the barriers in technology choice. All if the expertise needed is within our ecosystem. A number of factors are driving adoption, including: • The growth in LoRaWAN network availability – public and private – has made the technology more accessible than ever. • Rapid increase in the number of LoRaWAN Certified CM devices gives the market the assurance that the IoT isn't a passing fad, but that the technology, products and solutions will be there – and working the way the standard says they will – for the long term. • Continued development of the specification to add features like geolocation, roaming and FUOTA strengthen LoRaWAN and ensure that it is future-proof Strong demand from vertical markets will drive the need for mature IoT platforms and technical and certification enhancements to augment the LoRaWAN specification will address emerging requirements. Companies are actively seeking new 'killer applications' in every kind of market, which requires a technology that can be flexible and enhanced over time. For anyone looing to enter the IoT market today, LoRaWAN is the defacto LPWAN industry standard deploying now. This is why we are confident that 2019 will be an even stronger year for deployments around the world, that will ultimately push the IoT to achieve its full potential. MEMBERSHIP & GROWTH INITIATIVES • The LoRaWAN Certified CM Program will be a leading growth driver as it provides a mark that instills market confidence • Rapidly growing public operator network availability is also a key driver as there is more access than ever to established networks in all global regions • Private operator network capability is another key factor driving growth, especially for industrial installations where companies want to have full control over their network, access and data, no other LPWAN technology can offer this capability • More member value benefits such as: ABI Research subscription, investment in building the LoRaWAN™ Showcase and additional marketing resources, with a focus on vertical markets
