WELCOME We are so pleased to have you as our honored guests for the inaugural Worcester Homecoming event. And we are extremely grateful to the dozens of leaders from local business, civic, and community organizations who, in true Worcester fashion, joined together to organize and support this effort. In reading about this year's Homecoming attendees, we were impressed with everyone's varied backgrounds and experiences, as well as the diverse paths you have taken. But – whether born in Central MA or a resident while attending college – the fact that the city was once a place you called "home" is an important connection that unites us all. And, over the next few days, our hope is that the infectious "can-do" attitude of the city and the community will also help unite – or reunite – us under the common goal of enhancing and sustaining the momentum of Worcester's renaissance. Because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on national and local economies, it is, perhaps, a common goal that is more important than ever. As noted in a 2021 Boston Globe article, Worcester is experiencing "the kind of redevelopment around old industrial assets that many cities dream of." We also know that to realize our city's full potential, we need help – new partners, investors, and supporters. We believe that what you see, hear, and experience during Homecoming will help spark your interest in being a part of Worcester's future. We've curated a wide range of programming including panel discussions, keynotes, neighborhood tours, field trips, networking, and more. You're also returning to the city at a very important time in its history: 2022 marks Worcester's 300th anniversary. There are several activities planned over the weekend to celebrate the city's tercentennial, which are listed in this program book. We hope you consider extending your stay to participate in the Tercentennial activities. We are confident that you will enjoy Worcester Homecoming and that you will find something that inspires you. We look forward to connecting with you and to do what we can to help make your experience meaningful and memorable. On behalf of the Board and the local Homecoming team, thank you for your time, attention, and input over the next three days. We're honored and fortunate to host you back home.
