Case Study Safran Electronics & Defense Strengthens Customer Service and Regulatory Compliance Practices with the M-Files Enterprise Information Management Solution Founded in 1989, Safran Electronics & Defense, Avionics USA, LLC provides state-of-the-art avionics solutions for civilian and military aircraft and helicopters. A wholly owned subsidiary of Safran Electronics and Defense, Safran's scope of business includes technical support, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) services, and sales, marketing and support for its integrated cockpit display systems, flight control components, aircraft condition monitoring systems and flight operations quality assurance software. Based in Dallas, Safran serves hundreds of suppliers and customers throughout North America – an operation that demands constant maintenance of and accessibility to tens of thousands of pages of technical documents pertaining to Sagem's diverse product lines. With the goal of transitioning away from paper-based methods for managing documentation, Safran began searching for a single platform in 2010 that would allow the organization to better retrieve and update engineering documents, schematics and project-related materials that are critical to servicing customer accounts. In addition, Safran wanted to integrate this new solution with customer records and requests stored within its Corridor ERP system in order to unify fragmented data sources and streamline workflows and compliance-related processes. After evaluating a number of leading enterprise content management (ECM) systems, Safran selected M-Files to establish a central content repository that links with its ERP system and automates the management of technical and engineering documenta on.
