SPI Health and Safety is a Canadian leader in occupational health and safety products and services. It offers comprehensive and specialized solutions for the distribution of health and safety products, technical and fire protection services, and consulting and training. The company was founded by Mr. Paul Tremblay as a small family business in Jonquière, Quebec, in 1972, when it originally focused on the sale of fire extinguishers. Over the decades, the business has grown from selling fire extinguishers to now offering everything from personal protective equipment to training and consultation services in health and safety. SPI Health now boasts close to 500 employees across Canada, but the company holds true to the values of its founder: passion, innovation and caring about people. Ultimately, the company is committed to ensuring that workers return home safely to their families every day. The challenge As a company that prides itself on caring about the safety and wellbeing of their employees, SPI wanted to offer their staff additional support to reduce their day-to-day stress. As many of their employees have young families, TELUS Health Virtual Care seemed like the perfect solution. Why TELUS Health? SPI was attracted to TELUS Health because they felt that they shared similar values: both believe in community engagement, in the importance of having positive relationships with their staff and clients, and the value of bringing a sense of wellbeing and peace of mind to their employees. In fact, SPI changed providers to work with TELUS Health. As a small company, SPI likes that they can call and speak to someone whenever they need to: they appreciate good client relations, and that not having thousands of employees does not mean they are any less of an important or valued customer to TELUS.
