Unify your skills data to provide a holistic view of talent. Skills data is vital. It's the new language of talent management. However, skills data exists all over your organization, in disconnected formats and siloed systems. To be effective and get the most value from your skills investments, you need skills data to be unified, relevant, standardized, usable, and dynamically updated. CUMBERSOME, EXPENSIVE AND OUTDATED SKILLS MANAGEMENT IS HOLDING YOU BACK More than ever, today's business and HR leaders need to bring together skills data from disparate systems, but they are stuck with hierarchical, outdated taxonomies, and skills data siloed in different places. Not All Skills Are Created Equal Today, a common way to assess talent is by looking at what they've already done: their experience, title, pedigree, and tenure. There are two key issues with this approach. Firstly, it creates an incomplete picture, ignoring potential. Secondly, it can lead to bias. Adding skills data to your talent acquisition and talent management strategy gives you a smarter approach to assessing potential… but it won't give you advanced insights, such as industry context or the proficiency and seniority of each candidate and employee. Skills Taxonomy Requires Constant Investment Maintaining skills taxonomies requires continual time and financial investment, as they can quickly become outdated. And, as organizations grow, each new HR system implemented brings further talent management complexities, preventing your team from moving at the pace your business needs. Skills Data Doesn't Flow Between Systems Since talent recruitment systems typically don't integrate with each other, skills data remains siloed in fragmented repositories, and is unable to provide meaningful insights. Manual Data Updates Lead To Inaccuracy As different HR systems don't speak to each other, your team is required to manually update different skill terminologies (internally and externally) and work with too many vendors. Relying on these manual process is not only a waste of time but also means that the skills data becomes outdated the minute the system is implemented. Beamery is changing all of the above, with the first industry alternative to cumbersome, expensive and outdated skills management.
