Lab 4: Explore Recommendations • (continue in Cost Explorer) • Select "Rightsizing Recommendations" in the left-hand navigation pane o Note how many recommendations you have o Note the potential resource savings that is projected o If you have Resource Optimization Recommendations in the middle portion of the table, click "View All" to see those recommendations o Record the specific reason for at least one of your recommendation • Navigate to Savings Plans > Recommendations in the left-hand navigation pane of Cost Explorer • Explore the various recommendations by changing the following parameters: o Savings Plan Type – Compute & EC2 Instance o Payment Options - All, Partial, No-Upfront o Term – 1-year, 3-year o Record the On-Demand Savings range that you get for your various instance types located in the middle column of the table at the top of the screen • Navigate to Reservations > Recommendations in the left-hand navigation pane of Cost Explorer • Make sure that the service selected from the drop down menu is "Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)". • Explore the various recommendations by changing the following parameters: o Offering Class – Standard & Convertible o Toggle Payment Options - All, Partial, No-Upfront o Payment Options - All, Partial, No-Upfront o Term – 1-year, 3-year o Record the On-Demand Savings range that you get for your various instance types located in the middle column of the table at the top of the screen • Run Coverage Reports for your existing RIs or Savings Plans o Record how well you're consuming those plans in terms of usage Lab 5: Compute Optimizer • Click on the AWS logo in the top left hand corner of the screen • This will take you to the Management Console Home screen • Type "AWS Compute Optimizer" into the Find Services field and select it when it shows up in the dynamic list under the search bar • Record how many EC2 instance and Auto Scaling Group recommendations you have • Navigate into each set of recommendations by clicking on the respective "View recommendations" link • Once you have a list of recommendations you can select any one of them with the radio button on the left most portion of the screen and select "View Details" to see options recommended by Compute Optimized along with the usage statistics. • Take some time to digest the recommendations that you have
