LoRaWAN® Regional Parameters RP002-1.0.4 ©2022 LoRa Alliance ® Page 88 of 101 The authors reserve the right to change specifications without notice. 3 Repeaters 1781 1782 Repeaters have not yet been specified by the LoRa Alliance; however, this specification does 1783 include references to repeaters and constraints that end-devices should follow to be compliant 1784 with them. 1785 3.1 Repeater Compatible Maximum Payload Size 1786 Repeaters, as referenced in this specification, were intended to fully encapsulate a 1787 MACPayload in the ApplicationPayload of another LoRaWAN data message. In addition 1788 to the original MACPayload, up to 20 bytes of metadata describing the original message were 1789 envisioned to be included with the encapsulated data message. In order to minimize impact 1790 on the end-device and its application, repeaters would communicate with the network 1791 (gateways) using only data rates that supported the maximum allowed MACPayload size of 1792 250 bytes. Therefore, these data rates show a maximum payload size that is 20 bytes fewer 1793 when describing "Repeater Compatible" operation. 1794 1795
