Prioritize future vision, despite headwinds.
Despite challenges, banks must not lose sight of the long-term plan. Visions
must be bold enough to drive differentiation, otherwise the risk is that you
get everything done on last year's roadmap, only to realize that the world has
moved on. We see that reflected in this year's survey driven by circumstances
outside banks' control. Get the vision back on track in 2023. Make room to
evaluate emerging technology, and ensure the north star continues to drive
long-term ambition.

Augment the core with selective SaaS.
Cloud-hosted capability judiciously deployed can enhance capabilities with
banking applications outside of the core and selectively upgrade applications
or elements of architecture discretely. Buyers are looking for specialist
solutions to plug gaps in their own capabilities, rather than the more general
financial cloud solutions. Look for vendors with progressive roadmaps and a
strong cultural fit.
