GOVERNMENT
The grade given to America's infrastructure
for 2021 left much to be desired: C-.
That's a smidge better than when the
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
began grading the country's infrastructure
components more than 20 years ago (D+),
but it's nothing to boast about.
It's a big country, with more than 4 million
miles of road, 617,000 bridges, 80,000 dams
and 52,000 public airports to sustain. These
projects are frequently subject to the whims
of government budgets, and it can be
difficult to get stakeholders to agree on the
most pressing needs.
With greater federal investment in America's
infrastructure on the horizon, it is imperative
that leaders of future projects thoughtfully
consider three of the top challenges facing
the industry today to make the most of
enhanced funding.
