LEARNING FROM LOSS TO PROVIDE A WINNING SOLUTION When the Navy originally chose their solution for the common processor system (CPS), Mercury received an excellent rating but came in second to the IBM BladeCenter due to a technicality. Convinced it had the better solution, Mercury went back to work, turning its offering into something smaller, faster, and more modular. When Lenovo bought BladeCenter, Mercury contacted the Navy with a plug-in and requirements-ready solution: RES HD. Funding challenges were quickly resolved with the CPS prime contractor, allowing Mercury to provide replacements and new ship hardware for AEGIS tactical servers. SECURED SHIPS WITH HIGHER- PERFORMING SOLUTIONS The U.S. Navy was able to remove technology that presented an unexpected security risk on its ships and replace it with secure, cost- effective processing with higher performance. RES HD requires minimal shipboard maintenance, and its modularity and better performance also give the Navy the ability to reallocate part of the server stack to run a prototype of an AEGIS virtual twin. This technology also comes with a future roadmap for the Navy, as Mercury 's new common module system is set to launch in late 2022 or early 2023. An unplanned and time-sensitive full stack replacement produced a modular and interoperable solution in a smaller, faster package HD Modular Blade Servers "Plug-and-pull" blades, purpose-built for evolving workloads that deliver cost savings The Mercury Systems logo and the following are trademarks or registered trademarks of Mercury Systems, Inc.: Mercury Systems, Innovation That Matters, and BuiltSAEE.
