2023 USE CASE Seeed Studio Brings Real-Time Weather Insight to Smart Cities with LoRaWAN LoRaWAN -ENABLED CO 2 AND WEATHER MONITORING To actively respond to climate change, many countries have set carbon neutrality goals. This makes monitoring and calculating carbon emissions a must-have. At the same time, smart cities need accurate real-time weather forecasting to make better decisions and take timely actions that make cities more convenient for residents and improve the efficiency of services. As a result, data on microclimates and pollution is increasingly in demand. BROAD COVERAGE WITH LoRaWAN Placed in strategic locations across a city, Seeed Studio's SenseCAP Weather Sensors collect a wide range of data on local weather and pollution levels. They incorporate LoRaWAN ® connectivity to share data, so planners have precise information from multiple points across the city. The company chose LoRaWAN ® due to its low power consumption, long transmission range and broad coverage. FROM DISTASTER DETECTION & RELIEF TO POLLUTION CONTROL Town planners and businesses need localized weather forecasts to predict, plan and act with certainty. Uses include: • Rain data for flood control, route planning and evacuation response in the event of an emergency • Noise/air pollution data for monitoring and control of emissions • Light sensors for automatic street lighting control • Wind speed and direction information to improve wind power generation efficiency and for recreational activities, such as paragliding • Precise weather forecasting for local businesses, such as food delivery services SENSECAP WEATHER SENSORS The SenseCAP ONE series of Compact Weather Sensors measures a range of parameters, including air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, light intensity, rainfall, wind speed and CO 2 . The weather sensors use LoRaWAN to transfer this data to the user. They connect to the MODBUS RS485 LoRaWAN ® Data Logger, which transmits the data to a public LoRaWAN ® network server, such as Helium, LORIOT or TTN. • All-in-one compact design • Easy to deploy and maintenance free • Data is reliable and accurate (up to 0.1m/s wind direction, 60m/s wind speed, etc.) • IP66 rated industrial protection, suitable for long- term outdoor use (-40 ~85℃) • Easy-to-use software, such as API, web portals and apps for easy configuration, data visualization and remote device management Sustainability Smart Cities Product COMPANY CONTACT INFO Shuyang Zhou at iot@seeed.cc
