With that comes enormous amounts of data that need to be captured and shared between internal and external teams. Too often, organizations and their tools do not have defined best practices for collecting this data or a clear understanding of who owns it after the project is complete. According to a Dodge Data Report, 45% of owners will sometimes agree to use the contractor's Program Management Information Software (PMIS) when requested. But in doing so, they give up ownership of their data. The Most Valuable Resource for Any Construction Project Over one-third (34%) of users are at risk of losing some of their data if they were to end their current contract with technology providers. And a few say they could lose everything. Data is critical during any program for decision making, accountability and planning. But it does not end there. The data from any program is imperative when maintaining the structure moving forward and the planning of new programs, but also for audits and unforeseen lawsuits. It happens. "Every company has big data in its future and every company will eventually be in the data business." Thomas Davenport Senior Advisor to Deloitte Analytics
