Sanctions against Russia

In early February 2023, the US announced further sanctions against 22
individuals and entities in Cyprus, Singapore, Bulgaria and Israel related to
the sanction's evasion network of the Russian arms dealer Igor Zimenkov.

Additional designations were made as part of the wider package of sanctions
measures announced on 24 February 2023. Over 30 foreign nationals and
companies based in Switzerland, UAE, Malta, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, the
British Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas have been designated for allegedly
assisting Russia evade sanctions and acquire US technology to support
Russia's military.

9 Latest developments
A tenth package of sanctions was announced on 15 February 2023 and
adopted by the Council of the European Union on 25 February 2023. The
package includes:
• The designation of 121 individuals and entities, including financial
institutions, those responsible for military activities, political decision
making, spreading Russian propaganda and disinformation, and
involvement in the forced deportation and adoption of Ukrainian
children. Four Iranians have also been sanctioned for their involvement in
the production and transfer of UAVs to Russia.
• Further export bans relating to critical technology and industrial goods,
including electronics, specialised vehicles, spare parts for trucks and jet
engines, and those goods used in the construction sector which could be
diverted to the military.
