How Property Managers Can Optimize Electricity, Heat & Water Bills for Individual Tenants with LoRaWAN SITUATION Meter reading and energy consumption monitoring are among the most important areas of property management. By using Smart Metering technology, it should be possible for property managers to simplify water usage bills to tenants. In addition, building owners and managers can reduce the consumption of electricity, heat, water, and other utilities to save costs in the long term and improve efficiencies. LoRaWAN ® -based technologies are an ideal solution for an IoT infrastructure that cannot endure outages, such as smart meters. BENEFITS This solution solves business problems in four areas: • Individual invoicing in multi-tenant buildings • District heating • Water pump management • Non-revenue water (NRW) 2023 USE CASE CHALLENGE Traditionally, basic water consumption meters have been used to measure water use. These types of meters require that meter readings and other management tasks, such as meter disconnection, are done manually. This is a very labor- intensive process, especially for firms with a large number of customers. At the same time, simplicity is key for individual tenants, and owners with multiple properties need to ensure that their business runs smoothly day to day. SOLUTION Talkpool has partnered with TEKTELIC to create an easy-to- use Smart Metering solution for building managers, residents, and owners. The solution consists of: • Talkpool's LoRaWAN -enabled Smart Metering sensors, which measure utility usage at each unit • TEKTELIC KONA Micro IoT Gateways for LoRaWAN which collect the data and send it to the cloud • A web portal that displays real-time and historical information COMPANY CONTACT INFO TEKTELIC Communications, Calgary AB, Canada: Email: Talkpool, Chur, Switzerland: Smart Utilities Gateway
