axway.com 2 By embracing a single, central catalog of APIs, the group would be able to implement consistent governance and information security policies across the entire organization, and enable tightly integrated operations across all business units. Crucially, APIs would add a flexible integration layer on top of existing systems, enabling the group to achieve integration without the cost, complexity and risk of ripping and replacing legacy systems in use across the business. Selecting a trusted partner To lay the foundation for the new way of working, Groupe BPCE selected Amplify API Management Platform. The Axway solution enables organizations to design, test, deploy, and manage APIs from a single, scalable platform, with integrated analytics to help uncover insights into usage and enable API monetization strategies. Frédéric Pinaud, IT Program Director at Groupe BPCE, comments: "Prior to the merger, Banque Populaire's IT services division i-BP [Informatique Banque Populaire] had been using Amplify API Management Platform with great success. This positive experience gave our leadership team the confidence that the Axway solution could meet Groupe BPCE's rigorous requirements for the open banking initiative." Deploying a central API platform The Groupe BPCE IT organization BPCE-IT formed a dedicated project team to create a secure portal for authorized financial services stakeholders in Europe to access account-holder data, as mandated by PSD2. This team was tasked with defining the target OpenAPI architecture, developing the business rules and policies for API security and routing, and delivering support services such as workshops and skills-transfer sessions to accelerate adoption of the portal. "Throughout the deployment process and beyond, the support we received from Axway has been exemplary," continues Pinaud. "Working side-byside with our IT organization, Axway and its business partner Sopra Steria are helping us to establish an API center of competence, which brings together the expertise we need to manage the infrastructure, architecture, rules and policies for our API platform. We have particularly valued Axway's guidance around best practices for API security, as well as the team's expert recommendations around load balancing and high availability." Uniting the business Today, Groupe BPCE uses an on-premises deployment of Amplify API Management Platform to provide a flexible integration platform for the entire group. By enabling applications to access the core banking systems from Caisse d'Epargne, Banque Populaire and Natixis via API, the group can deliver leading-edge web services without the need for significant technical changes at the back end. Axway and Sopra Steria are helping us to establish an API center of competence, which brings together the expertise we need to manage the infrastructure, architecture, rules and policies for our API platform.
