2 Digital transformation isn't just about implementing new technology; it's also about using technology to achieve business goals faster. Reinventing your business often begins by taking steps to invest in shifting strategies, processes, people, and culture. In the current business climate, you are likely being asked to drive that change in the face of economic uncertainty, rising costs, and even reduced staffing. It's important to remember that transformation is neither about scope nor size—it's about meaningful impact. Quite often, the systems that are central to your strategy and process are the mission-critical applications that your business relies on every day— from companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, VMware and other established software vendors. These systems and the data associated with them are at the heart of any digital transformation you're likely to undertake. They are centrally tied to the products and experiences that you deliver and the decisions that you make every day. Any legacy systems can be costly in terms of licensing, infrastructure, maintenance, and staffing, and they are often difficult to scale and modernize within the constraints of your own data centers. How much is keeping mission-critical applications and data on premises holding you back from transforming your business? A 2023 Forbes survey of 1,000 organizations found strong support for migrating and modernizing enterprise workloads. Ninety-four percent of the survey respondents identified plans to increase cloud spending this year, with a particular focus on funding modernization and transformation initiatives, reducing application maintenance costs, replacing and scaling aging infrastructure, and increasing performance and security.
