The Constitution of the United States
is 247 years old this year. According to
2 Peter 3:8, that's only minutes in the
eyes of our God: "But, beloved, be not
ignorant of this one thing, that one
day is with The LORD as a thousand
years, and a thousand years as one
day."
Now let's look at the Amplified Bible,
Classic Edition: "Nevertheless, do not
let this one fact escape you, beloved,
that with The LORD one day is as a
thousand years and a thousand years
as one day."
Notice the phrase: "Do not let this one
fact escape you." The New Living
Translation puts it this way: "
You must
not forget this one thing." Another
thing we
must not forget is the great
Bible fact that this same God is the
Creator of all things, including time as
we know it. He is also
a covenant-
making, covenant-keeping God. Let's
look at Galatians 3:15-17:
15 BRETHREN, I SPEAK AFTER THE
MANNER OF MEN; THOUGH IT BE BUT
A MAN'S COVENANT, YET IF IT BE
CONFIRMED, NO MAN
DISANNULLETH, OR ADDETH
THERETO.
16 NOW TO ABRAHAM AND HIS SEED
WERE THE PROMISES MADE. HE
SAITH NOT, AND TO SEEDS, AS OF
MANY; BUT AS OF ONE, AND TO THY
SEED, WHICH IS CHRIST.
17
AND THIS I SAY, THAT THE
COVENANT, THAT WAS CONFIRMED
BEFORE OF GOD IN CHRIST, THE LAW,
WHICH WAS FOUR HUNDRED AND
THIRTY YEARS AFTER, CANNOT
DISANNUL, THAT IT SHOULD MAKE
THE PROMISE OF NONE EFFECT.
Four hundred and thirty years! What
happened here, in the United States,
234 years ago? It was April 30, 1789,
the day America made covenant with
Almighty God, EL SHADDAI, the God
who is more than enough for the
United States of America.
The first act
of Congress was to establish a
covenant with our God, in the Name
of Jesus Christ our LORD. It forever
tied this nation to its sister nation,
Israel!
"Brother Copeland, what does that
have to do with us now?" Nothing,
unless we activate our side of the
covenant. Let's read Exodus 2:24-25:
