HET3 mice are produced by breeding CByB6F1/J and C3D2F1/J hybrids together. These mice are readily available from The Jackson Laboratory from 4 to 90 weeks of age. Genetically Diverse Each inbred strain represents a unique and consistent genome, allowing for the empirical assessment of precise genetic modifications. However, this fails to capture the expansive genetic diversity of the human population. HET3 provides a stable, yet genetically diverse model which is more representative of human population diversity, balancing reproducibility with greater translational validity. Genetic Stability The four parental strains of the HET3 model are protected by JAX's Genetic Stability Program (GSP). Unlike outbred models which can genetically and phenotypically drift over time, HET3 provides you with reproducible platform for years to come. Readily available up to 90 weeks of age. Start your aging study today and save months of waiting for mice to age up. Features and Benefits Aging Interventions HET3 mice are genetically diverse and recapitulate the sex differences in lifespan observed in the human population making it an excellent model for studying the biology of aging and evaluating aging interventions. Toxicology and Safety As a readily available, aged, and genetically diverse mouse model, HET3 is an excellent platform for therapeutic safety evaluation, toxicological screening, or for use as a general multipurpose research platform.
