"17 Best Destinations for a Girls Weekend Getaway" (#3) MSN Travel, February 2023 @ K E L L I _ M I L L S _ P H O T O G R A P H Y VISIT THE JEPSON CENTER AND TELFAIR CHILDREN'S ART MUSEUM. Savannah is an art lover's dream, and those with a preference for the contemporary will love the Jepson Center inside and out. Got little ones? The build- ing features the new, enriching Telfair Children's Art Museum, which is sure to keep them busy. SNAP A SELFIE IN FRONT OF THE FOUNTAIN AT FORSYTH PARK. The park's north end is home to its eponymous fountain, a majestic, totally photo-worthy sight dating back to 1858. (Fun fact: The fountain was purchased out of a Sears catalog.) TOAST TO ONE OF THE BEST VIEWS OF THE CITY FROM BAR JULIAN. Towering over the Savannah skyline is the Thompson Hotel in the city's Eastern Wharf district. Take the elevator all the way up at this cosmopolitan spot to drink and dine on the rooftop, which boasts an indoor-outdoor design with panoramic views of the city. ROAR! See the breathtak- ing dinosaur inside the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District. Not to get all science-y, but the Amphicoelias fragillimus is the largest dinosaur ever discovered — and a to-scale replica stands inside. TAKE A CRUISE WITH SAVANNAH RIVERBOAT CRUISES. There are plenty of ways to sightsee in Savannah, but perhaps none as magical as from aboard the Savannah River Queen, a historic, restored riverboat that affords great views, refreshing breezes and your choice of a lavish midday brunch or evening dinner. Who needs candles when you have moonlight? ADMIRE THE CATHEDRAL BASILICA OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST – BETTER KNOWN AS THE "SISTINE OF THE SOUTH." With its striking, neo-Gothic architecture, this 1800s basilica feels like a slice of Paris's Notre Dame right here in Savannah. Going inside is free, with a requested donation to the congregation. COOL OFF WITH A SCOOP OF SAVANNAH SOCIALITE AT LEOPOLD'S ICE CREAM. There's a line for a reason. Leopold's Ice Cream on Broughton Street is famous for its decadent ice creams, and the Savannah Socialite — a double-chocolate concoction studded with Georgia pecans, swirled with bourbon caramel and created in partnership with Savannah magazine — is a can't-go-wrong flavor. STROLL DOWN BULL STREET. Want to shop, dine or just enjoy an afternoon stroll? Bull Street is a must, from near Victory Drive — where you can enjoy a glass of wine at Late Air or a drink at Water Witch Tiki — all the way north to the riverfront. Along the way, pop into galleries like ARTS Southeast's Sulfur Studios, visit SCADstory for an immersive history lesson or catch a show at the Savannah Theatre. Refuel (and catch up on email) with a quick cup of nootropic-infused coffee in the comfort of a white noise chair at VEL or a leisurely meal at The Collins Quarter. All that walking got you achy? Indulge in a massage at Spa Bleu — go ahead, you deserve it.
