MEASURING UP The Two-Time Pro Moto 30 Champion Moves Into Pro Moto Unlimited By Dan Sanchez After his first year of SCORE competition in 2016, Jano Montoya has won numerous races and several Class Championships. Proving himself again during the 2023 season with a second-in-a-row SCORE Pro Moto Class 30 Championship, this accomplishment added to his multiple Class 40 Championships, making Montoya a true veteran of Baja racing. For the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship, Montoya wants to test the team’s talents in the SCORE Pro Moto Unlimited class. “The competition is great with talented teams, and it’s enticing for us to move into the premiere motorcycle class and compete with them,” said Montoya. “Winning in SCORE’s Pro Moto Unlimited Class takes talent, luck, preparation, and training. We’re motivated.” Montoya has had several talented riders race with him throughout the 2022 and 2023 seasons and said he plans on having co-riders Bryce Stavron and David Zarate back. He is still looking for one more rider to complete the team. “This move to Pro Moto Unlimited is something we’ve talked about for the last year,” said Montoya. “Our chase teams will have to step up to provide more support throughout the race courses, but the level of commitment from the team is high, and our riders are mature and very talented. With age comes wisdom, and we know you can’t go wide-open all the time, and we’ve learned to expect the unexpected while on the course.” “We’re excited to see how it all comes together in the SCORE 2024 season, starting with the SCORE San Felipe 250. Our current KTM motorcycle is just as good as any other Pro Moto Unlimited team’s, and we will do everything necessary to be competitive in this elite class.” SJ
