WILSON’S WIN Brad Wilson Settles-In For His First Victory Of The 2024 Season By Dan Sanchez Photos by Get Some Photo It had been 10 months since Brad Wilson had raced in his No. 153 Jimco Hammerhead buggy, but he quickly got back into the groove and sped towards a Class 1 victory at the King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250. “We didn’t have that great of a year during the 2023 season,” said Wilson. “I had not driven the car since June and it took a better part of 50 miles to get back into the groove.” Co-driving the car with Justin Munyon, Wilson ran a conservative pace, allowing other drivers in the class to drop off from a rough course. “The holes on this course were a lot larger than last year,” said Wilson. “Our cars weren’t set-up for this so early-on we realized it would be demanding on the cars and our bodies.” After Wilson started and drove to race mile 160, he was in second place before handing off the buggy to Munyon who drove it into the finish. “The first place buggy on the course then had an issue so Justin was able to put the car in first place on the course,” said Wilson. “After that, he maintained the lead.” The second Wilson Motorsports car, No. 138 of Kyle Quinn finished third in class. “Having both cars finish on the podium with no prep-related issues is a huge positive for the start of the season,” he added. “This win was a big morale boost to the team and we’re happy that the BFGoodrich Tires and Method Race wheels were a perfect combo.” SCORE fans along the course and at the finish cheered the Wilson team for being back on top with this win. “The people in Mexico are great and they love the Unlimited Buggies,” said Wilson. “It’s great competition between the class and we see the levels of Class 1 competition out there. In Stateside races, there is a larger car count, and I think more of those competitors will eventually come over to SCORE and compete.” SJ Video: Brad Wilson On His Class 1 Win
