11 Fixed Radio Data Collection Units Mode of Operation Indicate the mode of operation and schedule by which the LoRaWAN collectors capture, store, and retransmit data received from the MIUs back to the control computer. Describe any existing capabilities for sending signals to MIUs or other devices for clock synchronization, remote shutoff, flow restriction, customer notification, etc. Communication to Control Computer Indicate available options and the preferred or recommended method for transmitting meter readings and other LoRaWAN system data to the control computer. [COMPANY] requires that communication from the LoRaWAN collector to the control computer be via cellular, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet connections. The Proposer must specify to the best of its ability the capital, installation, operation, and maintenance costs of such communications network. Number of Units Proposer is solely responsible for determining the mix of LoRaWAN collectors and LoRaWAN MIU placement strategies needed to meet or exceed the reading success rates. Indicate the estimated number of LoRaWAN collectors needed to achieve reading redundancy for each LoRaWAN MIU within the [COMPANY] service area. [COMPANY] desires that the LoRaWAN system have redundancy built into the system in case of collector failure. Describe the proposed amount of redundancy and how the redundancy operates. Mounting Indicate options for mounting LoRaWAN collectors and recommended mounting. Indicate minimum and maximum required and recommended heights. [COMPANY] requires LoRaWAN collectors to work using existing locations and structures where possible. The Proposer's system must not require installation of additional towers more than fifty (50) feet in height in order to make the system work. Location [COMPANY] will acquire a fully automated, LoRaWAN fixed-network water meter reading system over its entire service area, covering approximately [XX] square miles in the utility's service area. The technology must be field proven for its reliability with no single point of failure in the communication infrastructure. The proposed system must be integrated into [COMPANY's] current operations and be flexible to evolve as technology advances by maintaining the ability to act as a multifunction communications platform for use with other LoRaWAN-Certified devices. The proposed system must meet [COMPANY's] functional and business requirements, must have no single point of failure, must be resilient to certain environmental considerations, and must provide backhaul for any LoRaWAN-Certified device that the utility may wish to add now or later. Power Supply The data collection unit must run off 110 VAC or DC voltage supported by a solar panel and battery pack. Maintenance LoRaWAN collectors must be warranted for a one-year period and then be covered by an annual maintenance agreement.
