9 (UV)-inhibiting ABS plastic or similar material. All materials, used in the MIU, excluding the batteries, must be non-hazardous. Labeling The MIU shall be permanently labeled with the manufacturer's name, a model number, a tampering warning, the MIU identification number, required FCC labeling, input/output connections, and date of manufacture. The label should contain a bar code of the MIU identification number. The label should be weatherproof and attached to the MIU where normal installation will not obscure it. Mounting To achieve maximum range from the MIU, [COMPANY] requires all MIUs to be lid-mounted and not affixed to the meter. Describe requirements for MIU mounting (elevation, orientation, etc.) to ensure maximum adequate radio propagation. Indicate whether the MIU is always separated from the meter. Ease of Installation Briefly describe installation procedures. Indicate design provisions to avoid installers' mistakes in installation, connection to meters, and programming. [COMPANY] requires the system to incorporate GPS coordinates to help facilitate the location of the meter. Connections to Meter Registers Wire connections between the meter register and the MIU must be sealed and waterproof. The Proposer may use the existing three (3)-conductor cable between the meter and remote register device, provided that the cable appears intact upon visual inspection. The minimum cable length is five inches (5") on each MIU transmitting data using LoRaWAN. Systems may utilize a coupler or connector between the meter and the MIU or splice kits utilizing 3M Gel Caps with Burial Pots. Interoperability The MIUs of the proposed system must read at least five (5) different water meter manufacturers' automatic meter reading (AMR)-compatible encoders (AWWA-C707) for all sizes of meters, as well as having the capability of working with all meters that produce a standard pulse output. Proposer must provide a table showing the degree of compatibility of its MIUs with all makes and models of water meters currently available in the [REGION] market. Provide clear, sufficient explanations of the reasons why the proposed MIU is unable to read any AMR-compatible meter register sold in the [REGION]. Describe any features or information available from a register that the MIU would not be able to collect or transmit.
