Use of the LoRa Alliance ® , LoRaWAN ® and LoRaWAN Certified CM marks is pursuant to license from the LoRa Alliance ® www.lora-alliance.org Checklist Before preparing an RFP, project owners must define the project requirements. Many organizations work with a system integrator or solution provider to effectively define these to ensure projects are properly scoped. Define what are you trying to achieve: which use case(s) will be deployed and its(their) specific requirements. Outline required features e.g. bi-directional communications, firmware updates over the air, relay, etc. Define what data will be collected and how it will be used. Talk across your departments to gather all requirements and help ensure you select the best end to end solution Outline your future plans for the network. State whether use cases be added in the future. State whether you expect the volume of sensors/end-devices change over time. Define the environmental conditions. Describe the area to be covered and terrain. Provide any signal interference considerations. Outline here will the sensors be deployed. Set expectations for the network type to be deployed. State whether public/community/satellite networks are available and desirable, or whether private networks are required. Clearly state that you require the use of LoRaWAN Certified CM end-devices. List all other technologies to be integrated. For example, Wi-Fi or cellular for backhaul, or RFID or Bluetooth for short range communications. Legacy communication systems like building management systems, or billing systems. Existing data collection systems or dashboards. RFP CHECKLIST FOR PROJECTS USING LoRaWAN ® This document is intended to provide guidance on developing request for proposals (RFPs) for organizations seeking to deploy LoRaWAN networks and related system components. It is intended to provide a general idea of what to include and sample language that can be used when developing an RFP for a LoRaWAN deployment, however, it is not intended to be exhaustive or serve as an RFP template. We hope this helps as your organization embarks on its LoRaWAN journey.
