Answer: Under normal sales order picking functionality, an order imports into Latitude WMS, it is picked by one or more users in the warehouse and then, at some point in time, those items will need to be packed into a set of boxes manually and that employee will need to figure out the best way to put the items into the minimum number of boxes. With Pre-Cartonization, the system analyzes the items on a sales order at the time it imports to determine how many boxes and what style boxes the order will be packed into. Instead of opening a sales order for picking, an RF user would open the carton for picking and are directed to only pick the quantity/items that are assigned to the carton. Once picked, the box is complete and can be sealed up and moved on to shipping. Other benefits are that not all orders have to be pre-cartonized. You can drive what orders will be included in the process by warehouse zone or sales order route. Let's dive in and look at how it works. Keep in mind that, for this session, we have a set of orders already imported into Latitude that represent various scenarios. We'll start by looking at what cartons currently exist in Latitude. Review Single Carton Order 1) Launch the Latitude Web and login to branch "SESSION02" using "USER02" with a blank password. 2) Navigate to Activities Order Processing Sales Order Carton Picking Review Pick Cartons by status and choose "N" as the Carton Status in the drop down. On this screen you can see a list of all the orders and associated cartons. Let's drill into order "4397020". 3) On the Review Sales Order Screen, expand the function menu and then browse to "View Functions View Pick Cartons". This screen will list all the Pick Cartons associated with the order. For this order there is only one Pick Carton, and it is currently assigned to load "#100000". Orders are cartonized at the time of import based upon the defined dimensions and weight of the items on the order. Ultimately, they are pre-determined sales order loads that have an expectation of what items and quantities are going to be picked into them.
