Intelligent street lighting is crucial for reducing energy consumption, lowering maintenance costs, and improving public safety. IoT and LoRaWAN technology are key to achieving these goals. SOLUTION TEKTELIC, in collaboration with UNIS Telekom and X-Logic, developed a comprehensive LoRaWAN-based smart street lighting solution for Gradiska: • KONA Macro Gateways: TEKTELIC provided reliable KONA Macro gateways, known for their scalability, low cost, and excellent coverage and capacity, ensuring seamless connectivity for the smart lighting system. • LoRaWAN Network: UNIS Telekom built a complete LoRaWAN network and network server in Gradiska, utilizing X-Logic devices to enable LPWAN communication for remote lighting management. • Smart Lighting Management: The system supports the DALI-2 protocol for efficient control, allowing real-time monitoring and adjustment of street lights based on various factors. • Cost Savings: The smart lighting management led to significant cost savings for the city by reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs. • Enhanced Public Services: Data-driven efficiencies improved public services in Gradiska, contributing to the city's overall sustainability goals. ISSUE The existing street lighting system in Gradiska had several significant issues: • High Energy Consumption: Inability to adjust lighting based on real-time factors resulted in unnecessary energy waste. • Manual Operation: The system required considerable time and resources for maintenance and operation. • Lack of Centralized Control: Difficulty in promptly identifying and rectifying technical issues led to prolonged periods of faulty lighting. • High Operational Costs: The inefficiencies of the manual system resulted in high operational expenses and public inconvenience.
