CENTER A t the heart of every commu- nity is a hub. For some, it's a local park or town square. For others, a historic land- mark or pavilion. In Weston, Wisconsin, it's the Greenheck Turner Community Center. Built in 1997, and originally named Greenheck Fieldhouse, t he facilit y aimed to initially include a little some- thing for everyone: • One Olympic-size ice sheet • Three indoor basketball courts • Two racquetball courts • Concession stand • Classroom • Fitness center Greenheck Fieldhouse has operated as a year-round facility, with programming for community events, the local Boys and Girls Cub, youth associations, adult leagues, and school-based classroom groups, in addition to a handful of community events. "We run a ton of community program- ming, similar to a YMCA," explained Aaron Mull, Director of Community Services and Special Projects at Greenheck Turner Community Center. "We run all kinds of rec programming. We also have user groups that run programming and we have on average 242 kids per week for summer camp, along with before and after school care." As local athletics surged, facili- ties needed to meet demand.
