DENVER CATHOLIC | OCTOBER-NOVEMBER 2024
For us, the blessings of liberty are
many. We are blessed to be able to
speak on behalf of the vulnerable who
cannot speak for themselves. We are
blessed to be able to vote for laws that
uphold the truth given to us by Jesus
Christ. We are blessed to work toward
a civilization of love and justice.
In no rational universe can we
accept the proposed amendment to
expand so-called abortion "rights"
even further and allow them to be
considered a blessing of liberty. It is
an abuse, a distortion of the truth,
and an erroneous moral judgment
and conscience. Abortion is a clear
violation of the fifth Command-
ment, "Thou shalt not kill," for which
every person who supports abor-
tion will one time have to answer to
God. I encourage every Catholic in
the archdiocese to prayerfully read
numbers 1776-1802 of the Catechism
of the Catholic Church on moral con-
science for a clear understanding of
the teaching and how to form your
conscience.
