'Botanical Entanglements' is an allegory
for physical engagement within cultural
landscapes and the mark that human
endeavours leave. An abstract landscape
depicting mankind's interference with nature,
clashing and echoing from all that surrounds
us. The etched lines a direct representation
of man leaving its mark on a material
naturally sourced and commandeered for our
convenience. Inspiration came from Samuel
Palmer's quote "A picture has been said to be
something between a thing and a thought". I
wanted to create a dreamlike material tapestry
to enfold the viewer, an entwining of organic
shapes and industry depicting the clutter than
surrounds us.
