58 NICK HEBDITCH My artwork was created after numerous visits to Castle Farm a mile or two downstream from Shoreham. It is a place I have long been interested in as a location to paint, with obvious eye- catching perspective lines pulling the eye into the middle distance as well as the breathtaking wow factor of the lavender colours. The pattern- making of the field systems, hedgerows, and structured tree planting have long fascinated me and have encouraged me to explore numerous compositions. The light though, as in much of my work, is the key interest. A hazy ambiguity is apparent, as separate fields become less obvious and skyline blends with sky.
