86 NEIL POWELL Living in Shoreham I have been interested in the valley and its connection to Palmer and through him William Blake. I see them as primarily illustrators and printmakers, particularly Blake with his mix of images and text. My take on this is a winter walk with my dog, a story of his trip through the valley being watched by various local wildlife (all of which I have seen on my walks). I have created this with a mix of traditional and modern media. Brush and ink sketches of a limited pallet, placed digitally in a modern box visual narrative. The addition of a quote from Blake, ties past and present to the experience of winter in the Darent Valley landscape – space to enjoy and connect with nature. But basically the concept is Ferris Bueller 'Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.'
