BOYHOOD
DREAM
Hopkins native Travis Boyd returns to his hometown team
Growing up in Hopkins and
playing his college hockey down
the road for four years at the
University of Minnesota, Boyd
dreamt about what it would
be like to someday play for his
home-state Wild. Now, on this
one night in September, he got
to wear a Wild sweater in front
of friends and family and even
score a big goal with a goal-
mouth tap-in.
Unfortunately, despite 296
games of NHL experience
entering this season and
a Stanley Cup under his
belt with the Washington
Capitals, Boyd didn't make
the roster right out of camp.
There was just no room and
t wasn't a regular sea-
son game, but Travis
Boyd couldn't help
but look in the stands
during his one and only
preseason game at Xcel
Energy Center and take it all in.
The fact he scored that night
against the Dallas Stars was just
icing on top.
