Bending when Jacking up Vehicle
When working on the roadside, emergency jacks
included with vehicles often require awkward bending
for placement and use. Therefore, it's recommended
that technicians bring and use their own jack and
jack stands.
Make sure to select equipment that meets the vehicle's
weight requirements and check that they are in good
working condition before lifting the vehicle.
When using the jack handle to "jack up" the vehicle,
be mindful to keep your back straight.
Removing and Putting on New Tires
Tires can be stuck in place, so some force is usually required. Select a lunge position when removing or
putting on a new tire, keeping your back neutral. Get as close to the tire as possible. If squatting, due to
space constraints, remember to keep your back straight when pulling the tire off or putting it on.
If you must sit while pulling off a tire as a last resort,
ensure that you get as close as possible, keep your
back straight and tighten your core. Also, ensure that
you are on a flat and stable surface where possible.
Once the tire is off, keep it close to the body while
repositioning or adjusting your stance.
