U SAC TL | 2024 A NN U A L IMPA C T R E P O R T | 9 SHOOTING SPORTS CREATE A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES USA Clay Target League lays the groundwork for a brighter future. by Joe Bartozzi, President and CEO, National Shooting Sports Foundation RE A D S P RIN G 2024 I have had some awesome experiences hunting and target shooting around this great country, but the most meaningful for me were the times I spent teaching my sons how to shoot trap. Once they were old enough to safely hold a shotgun, we would go to my local range and practice. The club was kind enough to close a field for us and would set the trap machine so the boys could practice with straight-away targets. Those early days were precious to me, and my boys grew up with a healthy respect for firearms, safe firearm handling, the outdoors, and the shooting sports. I am proud to say that they are both military combat veterans and both continue to be avid shooters. They have children of their own now, and I look forward to the day when we can get three generations out to shoot together. Proper instruction is crucial for shooters of any age. Having an organization like the USA Clay Target League set the tone for a safe, educational, and controlled environment puts the students on the road to a lifetime of shooting fun. The fundamentals stressed by the League serve the students well and we at NSSF are very proud to see how the League has grown and how it has created many thousands of safe and responsible shooters.
