Now wheelchair-bound, Brodmann has not let the accident defi ne her nor prevent her from experiencing Savannah, a city she loves. "There are places in Savannah that are super accessible with a wheelchair," she says. Due to their easy accessibility, she frequently visits The Collins Quarter at Forsyth, Cotton & Rye, Enmarket Arena and the recently developed Plant Riverside District on River Street, including restaurants like Grafi tto, Baobab Lounge and Myrtle & Rose Rooftop Bar. She also loves visiting the Forsyth Park playground, one of the wheelchair- accessible playgrounds in the city. And she's always up for a trip to the beach on Tybee Island. When she's hot after a day in the sun, she sits under the pavilion on the Tybee Pier or grabs a bite at The Deck Beachbar and Kitchen. Brodmann notes that athough Savannah's Historic District contains some cobblestoned streets and many older buildings that were not originally built to be wheelchair-accessible, she has found that if she calls a business ahead of time, they are incredibly accommodating. Savannah is, after all, the Hostess City. Savannah offers many experiences for people with disabilities, including those with sensory processing disorders. The newly renovated Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum offers elevator access for tours and programming, a basket of fi dget toys and activities in braille in the library, a quiet room for visitors who need a brain break and a Quiet Hour on select mornings. Old Town Trolley Tours has motorized lifts that can accommodate wheelchairs or scooters. The riverboats run by Savannah Riverboat Cruises are fully accessible and feature elevators. The Jepson Center and Telfair Children's Art Museum (CAM) is not only wheelchair-accessible >>> WHETHER YOU ARE DIFFERENTLY ABLED OR HAVE SENSORY PROCESSING DISORDERS, SAVANNAH AND TYBEE ISLAND OFFER SOMETHING FOR ALL.
