A CHAMPIONSHIP FOR CHILE Patricio Cabrera Wins The SCORE Pro Moto Ironman Championship By Gabriel García Photos by Get Some Photo C hile is a country with a rich history of great athletes, among which Patricio “Pato” Cabrera stands out. He previously conquered the Dakar Rally and now the deserts of Baja California’s peninsula, after winning the 2024 SCORE Desert World Championship in the Pro Moto Ironman Class. Cabrera stated he was able to complete in all four rounds of the 2024 season thanks to a team effort, alongside people from “Fine Time” and Beto Verber. “It was a great experience, but it was very tough in Baja,” said Cabrera. “I was preparing for the SCORE Baja 1000, from the whoops in San Felipe to the rocky sections of the SCORE Baja 400 and Baja 500, gathering information to apply it to the Baja 1000.” According to Cabrera, the formula for winning in the SCORE Pro Moto Ironman class involved extensive training on his motorcycle, but also beneath it, supported by an extraordinary team with great professionalism. “My team helped to avoid mistakes and bring the title home,” he said. FOR ALL OF CHILE After winning the 2024 SCORE Desert World Championship, “Pato” states that this has never happened in Chile’s off-road racing history. “It’s the first time a Chilean has won this title, and for me, it’s an honor to represent my country in every race,” he said. “What better way than by giving them this important title. I hope it’s the first of many.” Cabrera has not yet decided if he will defend his SCORE crown in 2025, but he would love to race all of SCORE’s events again, thanking the support from the people in Mexico, as he has made new friends in the country during the season. A very special factor for the official Kawasaki athlete is the support of his father, who accompanied him in all the races of the 2024 SCORE Desert World Championship, and always stood by him in his challenges. “Life goes by fast, and we must live it to the fullest.”SJ
