A FAMILY TRADITION The Father And Son Team-Up To Win Another Class 5 Championship By Gabriel García Photos by Get Some Photo E li Yee is experiencing a special moment in SCORE International, having been crowned the Class 5 Champion for two back-to-back seasons. The most important aspect of this achievement, however, is that he accomplished it alongside his son, Eli Yee Junior. Yee, born in Tijuana, Baja California, is one of the Mexican drivers with the most victories in recent years within SCORE. He revealed his “secret” for competing in every race for the checkered flag. “The strategy is always to take care of the car and maintain a pace to stay in the lead, so that way, you can reach the finish line without issues, while also having a clean race,” said Yee. He also highlighted the work of his teammates at Eli Yee Motorsports, who are very focused on each race. “Thanks to them, we don’t have any issues with the car, and we can achieve these wins.” PROUD OF HIS MEXICAN ROOTS For Eli Yee, winning in SCORE as a Mexican driver is very important after a career filled with several championships and victories. “It’s just better now because I’m winning these titles with my son,” he said. “I enjoy it more this way.” Regarding his plans for the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship, Yee will fight to defend his crown in Class 5 alongside his son, Eli Junior, participating in the SCORE Baja 1000, Baja 500, San Felipe 250, and the Baja 400. When asked about the time he shares behind the wheel of his race car with his son Yee mentioned that it is fun “but also a bit stressful, as each one of us has his driving style, although he always hands me the car in very good condition during a race. I hope to continue enjoying these special experiences with him throughout 2025.” SJ
