2 FOR THE TROPHY VOCHO Flemate Racing Wins Another SCORE Class 11 Championship By Gabriel García Photos by Get Some Photo T he Flemate Racing team from Maneadero, Baja California, Mexico has won multiple Class 11 races in SCORE International over the past two years with their driver Oliver Flemate. Although Flemate has stood out as a key figure in these victories, he says it has been a team effort to reach their latest back-to-back Class 11 Championship. Flemate praised the work done in his team’s workshop, as they always deliver a car in the best possible condition for race day. “This always makes it easier for us on the race course.” Another important factor in Flemate’s success, along with his second driver, Antonio Espinoza, is the discipline they have achieved as a team, along with the efforts of every member of the No. 1100 car they call Trophy Vocho. This includes pre-running, pit stops, and even months of logistics for every SCORE race. Flemate acknowledged that it was a childhood dream come true to win his first Class 11 Championship last year, and to repeat it is even more exciting. “A two-time Class Championship places us back at the top of SCORE in Class 11, which I believe is the toughest class in off-road racing. We are the true warriors of Baja,” said Flemate. When talking about Class 11, Flemate’s eyes shine with a special glow, as this class is considered one of the most historic in the sport. “Racing a Class 11 requires being 100 percent physically and mentally prepared. It’s always a challenge because each race is different, paired with vehicles that have 50-year-old technology. It’s the true everyman’s class of the Baja racing.” TEAMING UP WITH CASTILLO For the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship, Oliver Flemate will race some events with his friend Ralph Castillo. “We’re going to work to make it a SCORE champion, but we’ll also race our car in the SCORE Baja 1000 and Baja 500, in addition to our Score Lite,” he said. On developing his skills driving a Class 11 through the deserts of Baja California’s magical peninsula, Flemate believes he has improved from when he started. “You become faster and more consistent behind the wheel, now it’s all about taking better care of the car while racing.” SJ
