38 FEBRUARY-MARCH 2025 | DENVER CATHOLIC "I defined that moment as an unsought dream. We all have dreams and goals, but there are dreams we don't even dare to dream. And for me, this was a dream I didn't dare to dream," he recalled with emotion. "What God wants to do with my life surpasses my imagination." In July 2021, after several calls from God through other people, with the support of his wife, time in prayer and discernment, Abram decided to begin his formation for the permanent diaconate. "I thought that what I was doing was enough — evangelizing in the movements, giving talks or workshops, offering forma- tion, etc. But the Lord kept saying, 'I want more. There's still something else I want from you,'"he shared. Abram knows that all his achievements in his faith journey have been the work of God, but he also credits them to his family, who has always supported him. "My family is not perfect. Just like other families, we still struggle, but not for the perfection the world understands today, but for the holiness to which every human family is called. This is a daily struggle, and only with Christ can we overcome each day's battles," he expressed. In June, after several years of forma- tion, Abram will be ordained a permanent deacon of the Archdiocese of Denver. "God gives you a mission, and if you embrace it, no matter how small it may seem, he is faithful to help you fulfill it. If the Lord has placed this in my heart, I will do my part and let God take care of the rest," he concluded. God gives you a mission, and if you embrace it, no matter how small it may seem, he is faithful to help you fulfill it." Bishop Jorge Rodriguez poses for a photograph with Abram Leon and his family.
