A New Season And
A Touch Of History
By Dan Sanchez, Editor
Everyone is excited for a new season of SCORE Off- Road Racing, starting with the 38th SCORE San Felipe 250. Fans will get to see everything from new champions, to veterans making history, and top teams battling for the "perfect" race and an Overall Class win.
Aside from looking forward to this season, this issue also looked back at one of SCORE's many "golden eras" when the Rough Rider program brought attention to the sport. We had the opportunity of interviewing several racers, including Rob MacCachren, Danny Thompson, and John Swift who were Rough Rider drivers, as well as several of the marketing and promotional geniuses including Frank D'Angelo and Madeline Bullman who worked just as hard behind the scenes to make it a successful endeavor. Of course, it's always a pleasure reminiscing SCORE's history with former SCORE owner Sal Fish.
Their insight and recollections of how the Rough Riders came together, operated, and were promoted among media and sponsors was interesting to uncover, and I hope you find it as eye-opening as I did.

We were trying to showcase what the SCORE San Felipe race is all about, and we found this great shot by SCORE Photographer Art Eugenio, of Quad racer Jorge Lopez, flying over the San Felipe whoops. Lopez won last year's race in the SCORE Pro Quad Ironman class, and it also allowed us an opportunity to we talk with some quad racers on their love for this class, and what it means for them to race quads in SCORE.
