FRONT HEAD RESTRAINTS Stand 21 Featherlite FHR The Featherlite FHR from Stand 21 is the product of decades of research and refinement. This FHR weighs 12 ounces, and features ultra-high-strength carbon composites, and a more ergonomic leg design. Its revolutionary new belt loop allows for perfect integration within the cockpit thanks to a unique shape reducing the interference between the helmet and the seat’s headrest. MSRP: $1,915. REV X Carbon The hottest new FHR from NecksGen is its REV X Carbon model. It is handmade from carbon fiber and other lightweight materials, and adds an extra element of driver comfort with its new X-strap system that holds the FHR securely in place while driving or getting in and out of the vehicle. The strap system is easily adjustable to make individual fitment easy. The REV X Carbon is currently available for 3-inch-wide belt guides (2-inch sizes are coming soon). MSRP: $699. REV2 LITE FHR According to NecksGen, their REV2 LITE FHR is “the ultimate head and neck restraint” weighing in at only 1.2 pounds. It offers the same level of protection, certification, and features as the NecksGen Original and REV devices, but the REV2 LITE adds an easier-to-use new adjustable tether system, rubber grip friction pads to help the user feel better locked into the seat, and higher belt guides to keep everything fastened in place for multiple impact situations. MSRP: $599. Ascent Carbon Brace The Ascent Carbon Brace is Meru Safety’s first entry into the FHR market. It’s a carbon head and neck restraint with stainless and aluminum hardware that works with Meru Safety’s shock absorber-based Inertia Damping System (IDS) to decrease the speed at which the diver’s head comes to a stop in frontal or reverse impacts. Its speed-sensitive valving detects and damps large force impacts and abrupt movements while maintaining comfort in normal driving conditions. The Ascent Carbon Brace can be used with 5- or 6-point harnesses and it connects to any helmet with threaded mounting points via a sliding tether system familiar to other FHR devices. MSRP: $1,250 HANS IV FHR Now offered in three different sizes, at a lower price, the Hans IV is a new and improved FHR (Frontal Head Restraint) that is 10-percent lighter than the previous Hans III. Custom molded pads which nest into the device, preventing slippage, were designed with an upgraded foam for improved comfort and support. Offered in a 20-degree option, this FHR is perfect for the entry level driver across many race series. Each HANS device is sold complete with two anchors (enough for one helmet), pads, and matching tether. MSRP: $424.95.
